JULY 2018 Message from the HGCAA President – John Helweg

I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July. Our June meeting went well at ADI Pinemont. Amanda was back and it was great to see her. We also met the new branch manager Matt Wilson. I’d like to thank ADI for hosting us and providing great food. Please remember, our associate members support us, so please support them.

We discussed the DPS Public Safety meeting that TBFAA represented us at and how it went. We discussed one of the articles in last months newsletter about web site optimization for mobile devices and how that can affect your web site placement going forward on search engines. We also gave a reminder to keep your technicians hydrated.

Our guest speaker was Steven Beers with the Growth Coach, Business & Sales Coaching. He had a nice presentation with handouts. He also had his book available. If you’re not coming to the meetings, you’re missing out on CEU’s, great speakers and lots of inside information.

Our upcoming meeting is July 12th at Electronic Custom Distributors. Danny Cranford from Pro-Vigil video monitoring will be our speaker.. Perennial Software was supposed to be here, but they were acquired by another company and the wires got crossed somewhere. I’m working on getting them at a later date.See y’all soon,

John C. Helweg

JULY 2018 TBFAA UPDATE BY PRESIDENT – KELLY RYAN

The TBFAA has changed the newsletter to an electronic format. While the paper version of the Transmitter worked well for us in the past, it’s time to leave the print in the past and provide a timelier newsletter. There are a few ways to receive the new Transmitter: As a member, your email is already positioned to provide the Transmitter to you weekly. If you receive the NESA National Monitor emails, look for the “Texas Edition” tab. If you’re not a member (which you should be), you can email the
TBFAA to be added to the distribution list.

Registration for the 2018 TBFAA Convention is active! If you have not yet made plans to attend the convention, please do so. The convention hotel will fill-up, and we want as many of our members to stay together, so secure your registration now! With the revised sunset recommendations expected to be delivered prior to our convention, we are sure to have an informative and exciting convention in Austin! Information is available on the TBFAA website.

Have you recently hired any new technicians or sales people? Do you have any installers wanting their Residential Alarm License or to prepare for their FAL test? Be sure to check out the training opportunities on the TBFAA website. The next Houston area Level 1 class will be September 20 th & 21 st . The RAL course in Houston will be on August 10 th , and the FAL prep-course is August 23 rd & 24 th . Be sure to register through the TBFAA website to ensure you or your employees have the training they need!

For those that use social media, be sure to join the Texas Burglar & Fire Alarm Association group on Facebook. We are also on Twitter using @TxBFAA, and you can find us on LinkedIn as well. We are using #TBFAA2018 to post updates on the upcoming convention in Austin. Be an active member! Help spread the word about the upcoming convention and the benefits of TBFAA training. For more information about TBFAA, please email me at president@tbfaa.org.

Sincerely,

Kelly Ryan
